"Am I not here, I who am your mother?
These words are what Our Lady spoke during her appearance to Juan Diego Bernadino in Mexico City on December 12, 1531.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of my favorite depictions of Our Mother. The story goes that She appeared a total of five times to Juan Diego. She instructed him to petition to the Archbishop for a church dedicated to Her. The Archbishop insisted on a “signer sign” and Our Holy Mother provided. She instructed Juan Diego to get Castilian roses on the top of a normally barren hill and when he brought them to Her, She arranged them in his cloak. Once he went to petition to the archbishop, the roses fell out and the image of the Virgin was revealed.
